The Big Read: Join in the Fun!

The Big Read is a National Endowment for the Arts program designed to encourage more reading in America.  There has been a decline in reading for pleasure in America, even among adults.  The Big Read is a collaborative effort between public and school libraries to encourage young and old to discover or rediscover the joy of reading a good book.  Alabama's Big Read choice is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.  Mrs. Normand will be reading age-appropriate versions of the novel to the K-1 students.  She encourages all parents to pick up a copy and take a trip back in time and 'recollect Tom, the mischief maker, and all his funny and sometimes touching escapades.
